Unity3D available on Linux!

While exploring the build API for Unity3D today, I came across this...

Yup, that's a BuildTarget enum for Linux! I haven't tried it yet, so it may throw an exception if I try to use it... but I'm guessing this means official Linux support is imminent?

Is this the 3.5 beta 2 you were poking around in? The Unity wishlist (http://feedback.unity3d.com/forums/15792-unity) doesn't even mention that they've started on it, and it's the most requested item there, so my guess is what you saw is just a placeholder for a feature they're planning down the line.

Unfortunately I do not have access to the beta program. However, I suspect the chap who I bought the package from (via the Asset Store) does, which let the cat out of the bag.

It's not a secret that people have been working on/off on Linux support during FAFF for a while. We've confirmed that a couple of times on the forum and elsewhere.

The fact remains though, that we're not ready to dedicate the required time and resources to take on the linux platform at this point in time.
